Drakenstein Municipality has adopted and implemented a Supply Chain Management Policy as required in terms of section 111 of the Municipal Finance Management Act (Act 56 of 2003).

The objectives of this Policy are to:

a) give effect to section 217 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act 108 of 1996) by implementing a system that is fair, equitable, transparent, competitive and cost effective;

b) comply with all applicable provisions of the Municipal Systems Act (Act 32 of 2000);

c) comply with all applicable provisions of the Municipal Finance Management Act (Act 56 of 2003), including the Municipal Supply Chain Management Regulations published under GN868 in Government Gazette 27636 dated 30 May 2005;

d) comply with the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (Act 5 of 2000);

e) comply with the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act (Act 53 of 2003);

f) comply with the Construction Industry Development Board Act (Act 38 of 2000);

g) comply with all applicable provisions of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (Act 3 of 2000);

h) comply with the Preferential Procurement Regulations published under GN 502 in Government Gazette 34350 dated 8 June 2011; and

i) comply with the Municipal Supply Chain Management Regulations published under GN 868 in Government Gazette 27636 date 30 May 2005
