Vandalism

Stop vandalising municipal property.

The newspapers recently reported a lot of cases regarding vandalism in the Drakenstein
area ranging from dropping a small piece of litter on the street through to arson and
other blatant acts of vandalism. It is unsightly and can in some instances
be dangerous to the public.

The ongoing and increasing costs of repairs and maintenance to municipal property
is a great concern for the Drakenstein Municipality.

It is not the municipality that vandalise property, but the community.
Yet, the municipality gets the blame for vandalism in the Drakenstein area.

The fact is that Council cannot continue to use rate payers' money to pay
for the repairs when repairs are required so often.
It just becomes too expensive.

Therefore the Drakenstein Municipality plea with the community not to vandalise
municipal property and to look after it.

Our communities must always respect their properties and should not resort
to violence and to damaging property of the municipality which
is there for the use of the community.

At the end of the day, that property is there for the use of the community.
