Blocked Housing

The following projects also formed part of low cost housing which originally commenced during 1995/1996 and was blocked due to unforeseen circumstances. Beneficiaries were responsible for constructing their own houses out of the subsidy money received by Government.

  • Wellington, 1068, Carterville (930 units)
  • 638 houses completed and occupied
The outstanding erven where houses were not completed and erven were construction did not commenced.  Council’s and Provincial Department of Housing Building inspector need to do a survey on the mentioned erven in order to assist the beneficiaries to complete their top structures.
  • Amstelhof 35 (236 units)
192 houses completed and occupied.  The remainder,  44 beneficiaries still awaited for subsidies. It was decided at the Provincial Department that houses that still need to be erected be handled on a plot and plan basis.
