#DrakensteinConnects online series starts with talk on reigniting local economy
Drakenstein Municipality’s #DrakensteinConnects online series, held in collaboration with Wesgro, kicks off next week with a conversation on reigniting Drakenstein’s economy during the COVID-19 lockdown. Drakenstein covers Paarl, Wellington, Mbekweni, Gouda, Hermon, Saron and Simondium.
Focusing on how municipalities can improve their investment readiness as a destination of choice, the first webinar will look at the private sector’s expectations of local government when dealing with a global pandemic and a hard economic lockdown, as well as an SMME’s experience of surviving the lockdown restrictions.
#DrakensteinConnects is an initiative aimed at building community resilience by connecting like-minded people, and will be hosted once a quarter. The first webinar takes place on 20 October 2020 at 11:00 to 12:30.
The main speakers are:
• Tim Harris - Chief Executive Officer, Wesgro
• Boyce Lloyd – Chief Executive Officer, KWV
• Katlego Ngwane – Chief Executive Officer, Katika Consulting

“As local government, we have become increasingly aware that strengthening community resilience and forming sustainable partnerships with people and institutions that share our goals are two of the most important pillars for effective service delivery,” says Alderman Conrad Poole, Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality.
“This webinar series seeks to stimulate conversations on how we can do things differently by listening and learning from each other, and by creating a sustainable communication platform to engage with our stakeholders on challenges facing our society,” he says.
