Notice

15 June 2021

Drakenstein Municipality recently completed its General Valuation Roll for the financial years 2021 to 2025 which will be implemented on 1 July 2021. The previous valuation was done in 2016.

The valuation is done by an independent valuer and the Municipality has no control over the outcome. Each property owner was informed of the outcome of their property valuation. Those who disagreed with the valuation of their properties had the opportunity to lodge an objection by 6 April 2021 and can expect a response from the Municipality by 30 June 2021.

The Municipality determines the tariff increase or decrease and has decided to decrease the property rates tariff by 2% this year, to “soften” the significant increase in property values since 2016. This means that despite the 2% decrease, the rates bill of most property owners will increase on 1 July 2021 and will be payable on 16 August 2021.

For any enquiries, please contact the Municipality on 080 131 3553 toll free or customercare@drakenstein.gov.za
