In accordance with section 18 of the National Road Traffic Act (NRTA), Act 93 of 1996 requires that the license of your motor vehicle is renewed every year. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure that the license is renewed before it expires.
If the license isn't renewed then the owner is liable to pay late licensing penalties and arrears. The owner will start incurring penalties and arrear fees if the vehicle license is not renewed within the grace period.
The grace period starts from the expiry date of the vehicle and ends after 21 days of the expiry date of the vehicle license.
