​Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Bradley Brown​​


Drakenstein Municipality’s newly appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is passionate, creative, visionary and a service delivery pioneer. Born in the Northern Cape and growing up in Worcester, Mr Bradley Brown has gained a great deal of experience in various capacities in the public sector, including financial management, accounting, development and financial planning - all essential for the sound financial management of a municipality.

He is exceptionally well qualified for the position. His highest qualifications, amongst others, include a master’s degree in Public Administration (Field of Study: Public and Development Management) which he obtained from the University of Stellenbosch  School of Public Lea​dership in 2019.

Bradley Brown

His previous experience includes working as Head: Financial Statements and Reporting at Stellenbosch Municipality (2009 to 2011); Deputy CFO at Langeberg Municipality (2011 to 2016); and CFO at Langeberg Municipality (2016 to 2020). He also held various positions within the financial m​anagement field and serves on the national board of the Chartered Institute of Governance, Finance and Risk Officers (CIGFARO).

Mr Brown has a clear grasp of budget planning, compilation of a Medium-Term Revenue Expenditure Framework (MTREF) and Annual Financial Statements (AFS), and of ensuring efficient and effective financial and budgeting processes within the local government accountability cycle.

With his experience, Mr Brown will contribute significantly to the sound financial management of Drakenstein Municipality, which is also in line with the Municipality’s vision of a city of excellence.

 

Municipal functions of Financial Services:

Manage and control the implementation of the budget policies, systems and procedures and financial management practices.

Implement and maintain revenue and credit control policies and procedures to ensure sound revenue management practices and compliance.

Ensure the recording, authorisation and proper execution of expenditure systems, procedures and transactions.

Manage supply chain management services to ensure proper systems, procedures and control for demand, acquisition, logistics, assets and disposal management.
