NOTICE TO ALL WATER CONSUMERS:

DRAKENSTEIN MUNICIPALITY  - ANNEXURE 1

WATER RESTRICTION LEVEL 0 ACCORDING TO THE NEW 4 LEVEL WATER RESTRICTION MODEL

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 4(3) of the Water Services Act, and Section 52 of the Municipal Water Services Bylaw of 2014 that, with effect from 1 November 2020 and until further notice, the new level 0 water restrictions shall apply within the Drakenstein Municipal area:

1: Restrictions applicable to all consumers of water.

a. Watering/irrigation (with potable water from municipal supply) of gardens, lawns, flower beds and other plants, vegetable gardens, sport fields, parks and other open spaces is allowed before the hours of 10:00 and after 16:00 every day,

b. All well points and bore holes which are located within the municipal water network area must be registered with Drakenstein Municipality.

c. Washing or rinsing of vehicles, motor cycles or motor boats, movable or immovable structures, paths, pavements and paved areas is allowed

d. Topping up or filling of swimming pools with municipal drinking water is allowed, only if pool is fitted with a non-permeable solid pool cover. Automatic pool top-up systems are allowed.

 

2: Restrictions applicable to Residential Consumers
a.  The Level 0 domestic water tariffs (excluding 15% VAT) are as follows:
 
Level 1   Level 0(from 1 November 2020)
  0  to ≤ 6 kl          - R6.71/kl -  R5.28/kl
 >6  to ≤ 10 kl       - R13.67/kl -  R9.38/kl
 >10 to ≤ 15 kl      - R17.92/kl -  R13.46/kl
 >15 to ≤ 30 kl      - R23.24/kl -  R17.47/kl
 >30 to ≤ 50 kl      - R32.44/kl -  R24.39/kl
 >50 to ≤ 80 kl      - R58.85/kl -  R44.25/kl
  Above 80kl         - R81.90/kl -  R61.57/kl


3: Restrictions applicable to Non-residential consumers.
a. Commercial car wash business must recycle at least 50% (strongly encouraged) of the total water consumed.

b. Washing of vehicles, trailers, caravans and boats with municipal drinking water is allowed.

c. For users supplied with water in terms of special contracts (notarial deeds, water service intermediaries or water service providers), the contrac​t conditions shall apply.
