Chemical fire in Wellington mostly contained
While the chemical fire in Wellington has mostly been contained by Drakenstein Municipality's Fire Department, firefighting teams are still at the scene making sure it is completely extinguished. Thereafter they will start damping down the area. Altogether 26 firefighters and seven operational vehicles are part of the operation. No one has been injured in the fire. All persons have been accounted for. The chemicals involved in the fire are calcium nitrate, caustic soda and household bleaches. The Fire Department estimates that it will take considerable time before the fire is fully extinguished. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
