Do you agree with your new property valuation, or not

14 February 2025 | Press Releases

14 February 2025

Do you agree with your new property valuation, or not?

The new Drakenstein Municipality General Valuation Roll was made available yesterday (13 February 2025) for public inspection. Property owners or interested parties now have until 24 March 2025 to view the roll and, should they wish to, lodge an objection against a property valuation.

Property owners should note that there is not necessarily a direct correlation between an increase in property valuations and an increase in property tax. The new financial year’s tariffs and possible tariff property tax increases will only be determined in May this year. For now, the Municipality encourages property owners to check whether they agree with their property valuations. If they don’t, they need to object before 24 March 2025.

By Wednesday, 19 February 2025, the Municipality will be sending property owners listed in the Valuation Roll a copy of the notice pertaining to their property, detailing all the steps they can take.

Members of the public can view the Valuation Roll and valuations at:

  1. The Municipality’s official website at Drakenstein Municipality's official website; and
  2. The following municipal offices during office hours (8:00 to 16:45 from Mondays to Thursdays, and 8:00 to 15:30 on Fridays):
  • Paarl Civic Centre, Berg River Boulevard, Paarl, 7622;
  • Wellington Civic Centre, Upper Pentz Street, Wellington, 7654;
  • Gouda Municipal Offices, Malva Street, Gouda, 6820; and
  • Saron Municipal Offices, Claremont Street, Saron, 6812.
Lodging objections
Any person who wishes to lodge an objection in respect of any matter in, or omitted from, the Valuation Roll must submit either:
  • Online at Drakenstein Municipality's official website; or
  • Complete an objection form available at the municipal offices and submit it in person or via email to valuation@drakenstein.gov.za.
Important deadlines

The deadline for submitting objections is 24 March 2025. Late objections will not be considered. The contracted Municipal Valuer will be afforded the opportunity to review these objections until 29 April 2025.

Appeals process

If an objection is not resolved to the satisfaction of the property owner, the property owner can lodge an appeal between 30 April 2025 and 2 June 2025.
