Tourism is about more than travel – it is about creating jobs, growing the community and the economy, and telling South Africa’s story to the world.
Drakenstein Municipality was proud to be part of the Cape Winelands District Municipality’s launch of Tourism Month 2026, recently hosted at Boland Park in Paarl.
Officials from across the Cape Winelands and representatives of the local tourism sector, came together under this year’s national theme: “Growing South Africa’s Tourism Sector in the Digital Era”.
Drakenstein Municipality’s Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Sport and Environment, Councillor Laurichia van Niekerk, joined leaders, stakeholders and partners to highlight the power of collaboration.
“It is through partnerships between local government and the tourism sector that our economy will thrive. Today’s launch acts not only as an invitation for us to work together, but also as an invitation to the rest of the world to visit the beautiful Winelands,” she said.
