​DRAKENSTEIN MUNICIPALITY BURSARIES
(EXTERNAL AND RURAL) 2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

Drakenstein Municipality invites qualifying applicants between the ages of 18 and 35 years, who permanently reside in Paarl, Wellington, Gouda, Saron or Simondium, to apply for partial bursaries granted for full-time studies in the fields relevant to the Local Government Sector, such as: 

  • Engineering, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering or electro-technical engineering;
  • Town and regional planning; local economic development and tourism; architectural technology; environmental, water/wastewater, solid waste;
  • Finance, including financial management, accounting or auditing;
  • Artisan development training qualifications, such as diesel mechanics; welding; building construction; plumbing; electrical heavy current);
  • Community and social development;
  • Sports administration, public administration and services, including law enforcement; firefighting; traffic management; human resources;
    public management); and
  • Accredited skills programmes (offered by accredited learning providers) such as hairdressing, welding, painting, grass cutting, digger loader, etc.

    Full particulars of requirements and application forms are available on Drakenstein Municipality's website or at the Drakenstein municipal offices, libraries and Thusong centres.


    ​PLEASE NOTE!

    Applicants should attach their latest results (June or September 2025) and proof of application to a tertiary/learning institution to the application form. Drakenstein Municipality current bursary holders continuing with courses will automatically qualify if their performance is within the provisions of the policy. Only fully completed application forms with the required documentation will be considered. Should there be no feedback received by 31 January 2026, applicants may assume that their applications have been unsuccessful. 


    The closing date for applications is Friday, 10 October 2025 at 15:00.
