BY-ELECTION: 11 NOVEMBER 2020 – DRAKENSTEIN MUNICIPALITY: WARD 10203003

In terms of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998, and following the declaration by the City Manager, Drakenstein Municipality, of a vacancy in Ward 10203003, the Electoral Commission conducted a by-election on 11 November 2020 and the vacancy was won by Damon Mintoor from the Democratic Alliance. Accordingly, Mr Mintoor is hereby declared duly elected ward councillor effective on 12 November 2020.

According to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), the final results were:
Democratic Alliance (Damon Mintoor): 1 214 (68.39%)
African National Congress (Katriena Willemse): 263 (14.82%)
Vryheidsfront Plus (Rehan Kruger): 232 (13.07%)
Economic Freedom Fighters (Sizwe Roxa): 66 (3.72%)
Spoiled votes: 19
