Drakenstein
Municipality is proud to announce that it has received a clean audit
opinion from the Auditor-General of South Africa for the 2020/21
financial year. This is the Municipality’s seventh clean audit and 14th
unqualified audit opinion. It is the result of uncompromising fiscal
discipline, clean governance and responsible financial management.
“We
were delighted to receive the final Management Report from the
Auditor-General yesterday,” said Alderman Conrad Poole, Executive Mayor
of the Municipality. “This clean audit is a testament of hard work and
keeping our eye on the ball. I want to congratulate Dr Johan Leibbrandt,
our City Manager, and his management team.”
The
Municipality was commended by the Auditor-General for sustaining its
clean audit status, despite uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic,
the struggling economy and increased financial pressure on businesses,
residents and municipal finances.
“Drakenstein,
like many other municipalities, had to maintain a fine balance between
stimulating economic development and job creation on the one hand, while
dealing with an anticipated reduced municipal income on the other.
During this particularly challenging year we remained focused on the
poor, but never compromised on financial sustainability and excellent
service delivery,” commented Executive Mayor Poole.
