12 November 2025Drakenstein Municipality proudly congratulates the AHi Drakenstein Business Chamber on winning the prestigious AHi Chairman's Award for Business Chamber of the Year at the AHi Western Cape Congress and Awards Ceremony in Cape Town on Friday, 31 October 2025.
The achievement of being named the best out of 61 AHi Business Chambers in the Western Cape follows Drakenstein Municipality's own recognition as Best Municipality in the Western Cape by the Provincial Government in September this year. Together, these accolades highlight a shared commitment to excellence.
“These awards confirm that Drakenstein Municipality and our Business Chamber are on the same growth trajectory. We are a winning team," says Councillor Stephen Korabie, Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality.
Both the Municipality and the Drakenstein Business Chamber understand the vital role of collaboration between local government and the private sector in driving economic growth and creating jobs.
“Drakenstein is prospering because of the strong partnership we have with local businesses," Councillor Korabie adds.
Dirk Breytenbach, Chairperson of the AHi Drakenstein Business Chamber, says it was an absolute honour to receive the award, which they dedicate to their members. “Without them, it would not have been possible.
“Our support also comes from the Best Municipality. We work with Drakenstein Municipality to ensure that businesses can establish themselves in a good, marketable environment. The cooperation of the Executive Mayor, his Mayoral Committee, and municipal officials to address matters of common interest has also contributed to our success," says Breytenbach.
The Drakenstein Business Chamber offers activities and collaborative projects to its members throughout the year. “We are very proud of the way we give businesses networking opportunities, marketing, support and knowledge to promote and improve their products," says Breytenbach.
“To every business that sponsored functions and participated in our various activities, we thank you sincerely and we look forward to developing great business opportunities again next year to give our businesses the maximum chance to showcase their products."
He concludes by saying that the Business Chamber looks forward to performing even better in 2026 to unlock value for its members to make Drakenstein a great place for everyone.
