Public Notice Beware of tender fraud

17 July 2026 | Press Releases

Drakenstein Municipality has become aware of fraudsters targeting bidders by falsely claiming they can influence the outcome of municipal tenders in exchange for money.

These individuals often use accurate tender information to make their claims appear legitimate and convincing.

Please be advised:

Tender awards are made strictly in accordance with legislation, prescribed procurement processes and objective evaluation criteria.

No municipal official is authorised to request or accept money, gifts, favours or any form of payment in exchange for preferential treatment in a tender process.

The Municipality will never contact bidders outside the official procurement process to discuss tender outcomes or request payment.

Bidders are urged to remain vigilant and not engage with anyone claiming they can secure a favourable tender outcome on behalf of the Municipality.

If you receive suspicious calls, emails, social media messages or any other communication of this nature, report it immediately to the Municipality's Fraud Hotline: 0800 555 337.

Incidents can also be reported to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation.

Suppliers are also urged to keep their profile active and accurate by access the Online Supplier Portal here: https://supplier-portal.drakenstein-portal.org/authentication/login?municipalityId=69a8526a000fdedb36ef
