Drakenstein WebSite Press Releases Drakenstein Municipality urges businesses to register EFF threats of violence with SAPS13 March 2023 | Press Releases13 March 2023Drakenstein Municipality has urged any business, organisation or institution in Drakenstein that receives threats of violence or looting to take place on Monday, 20 March 2023, to lay a complaint of intimidation with their nearest police station and inform the Municipality thereof.“The safety of our people and business community is of utmost important to us,” says Alderman Conrad Poole, Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality. “Any form of violence, looting, damage to property or intimidation is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. Such threats should be registered with the South African Police Service (SAPS) immediately – whether it is a phone call, email or letter.”The Municipality is obtaining legal advice about opposing the threat of a national shutdown by the EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) on Monday. Working together with the SAPS and its other partners in the Drakenstein Smart Safety Network (DSSN), the Municipality’s Law Enforcement and Traffic Services divisions will be full alert.“In the meanwhile, it will be business as usual in Drakenstein on Monday – for our long weekend visitors, visiting friends and family, as well as our working community.
