15 June 2023 | Press Releases |
The roll-out of Drakenstein Municipality's Eskom loadshedding resilience plan is well underway, with the 500 kVA back-up generator installation at the Paarl Wastewater Works (reactors) being completed.
Drakenstein Municipality received a R6 million Emergency Municipal Loadshedding Relief Grant (EMLRG) allocation from the Western Cape Department of Local Government.
Despite the increased demand in generators impacting on the availability and timing of installations, good progress in being made with the procurement of generators to be installed at the Paarl Wastewater Works (inlet works), Conrad Wastewater Pump Station, Perold Water Pump Station, Paarl Civic Centre, the Engineering Services management offices at Market Street (Paarl), and the Paarl East satellite office.
The Municipality is co-funding the installation of back-up generators as part of its commitment to mitigate the impact of Eskom loadshedding on service delivery.
