Drakenstein Municipality has spent its full R6 million Emergency Municipal Loadshedding Relief Grant (EMLRG) allocation received from the Western Cape Department of Local Government.
Installations of the 500kVA generator at the Paarl Wastewater Treatment Works reactor and 220kVA generator at Perold Water Pump Station have been completed.
The remainder of the backup power installations (generators at Paarl Wastewater Treatment Works inlet works, Paarl Civic Centre, Conrad Wastewater Pump Station, Engineering Services management offices at Market Street and the Paarl East satellite office) will be completed in the 2023/24 financial year.
These installations will be commissioned and paid from the Municipality's co-funding contribution as part of its Eskom loadshedding resilience plan.
