On the morning of 22 November, Drakenstein Municipality's Environmental and Solid Waste Management divisions joined forces with the Mbeko Eco Club for a successful clean-up initiative. Together, the volunteers filled nearly 70 bags with solid waste and pollutants, playing their part in ensuring a cleaner environment.
This collaboration highlights the power of partnerships, and Mbeko Eco Club's dedication to environmental education and awareness, particularly through their watershed education, the Berg River Clean-Up Campaign for ecological transformation.
Phiwe Mtwebana and Vincent Nteta from the Club had some inspiring words to share: “A shoutout to the incredible Mbekweni Eco Club volunteers. Your monthly clean-ups are a vital contribution to restoring dignity and livelihoods. Water is life.
“Equally, to our partners at the Municipality’s Solid Waste Management division and the teams at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, thank you for your trust and support in reaching our communities to protect and improve the water quality of the Berg River Catchment.”
