The Paarl Bird Sanctuary forms an integral part of the Waste Water Treatment Works covering some 41 ha and comprising five areas of open water known as maturation ponds.
The Sanctuary, set against the magnificent backdrop of the Du Toit's Kloof and Paarl Mountains, lies to the north of Paarl and is flanked by the Berg River to the west.
PAARL BIRD SANCTUARY VISITING HOURS
Due to the regulatory compliances the Paarl Bird Sanctuary will be open to the public on the following dates from 07:00 to 15:00:
- 26 September 2020
- 31 October 2020
- 28 November 2020
- 30 January 2021
On other days viewing is permitted ONLY from the Yvonne Weiss lookout facility inside the Waste Water Treatment Works. Visitors must remain within the security fence. An indemnity form must be signed at the entrance gate.
