The Drakenstein municipal swimming pool (in Klein Drakenstein Road, Paarl East) is closed until further notice due to a nationwide shortage in chemicals required to meet the water quality necessary for safe swimming.
The Municipality’s main concern is the safety and well-being of our residents. At present, the health and safety risks of compromised water quality are too significant to keep the pool open.
There is a possibility that our other municipal pools may also have to be closed in the absence of chlorine chips, chlorine gas and HTH®.
The Municipality is doing everything in our power to obtain these materials as quickly as possible.
Any changes to the situation will be communicated to residents.
