Drakenstein Municipality today celebrated National Women’s Day by equipping local women with the necessary skills to defend and protect themselves.
The event, held at Eurolux Boland Park Cricket Stadium in Paarl, attracted approximately 60 women and was attended by the Executive Mayor, Alderman Conrad Poole, members of his Mayoral Committee, councillors, staff, and members of the public.
The theme speaks to gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow. Drakenstein Municipality is all about breaking the bias, and taking a stance against the scourge of Gender Based Violence (GBV) 365 days a year.
The event was hosted in association with the Val De Vie Foundation and self defence expert John McGrath presented a masterclass – ensuring we empower our women to train lifesaving skills in order to protect them during these challenging times.
